School Container Removal
Old storage containers and portable cabins removed from school and college grounds, planned around your timetable and your site rules, and lifted on our own HIAB lorries.
Stabiliser legs down before a lift
Why schools end up with unwanted containers
Steel containers are a common sight on school and college grounds. They hold PE kit, grounds equipment, furniture and archive boxes, and they are often brought in during building work and then left behind.
Over time they rust, the doors stop closing properly, or the space they take up is needed for something else. Portable cabins used as temporary classrooms or offices can reach the same point when a permanent building opens.
Whether you have one container behind the sports hall or several across a campus, our school and college container removal service can collect them.
School container removal, planned around your site
A lorry and a lift on school grounds needs more planning than most sites. These are the points we agree with you before we arrive.
Timing
A date and time when the route and the lifting area can be kept clear, such as a school holiday.
Route
Which gate the lorry uses, where it drives and where it stands to lift.
Contact
A named member of staff who can meet the driver and open gates.
Contents
The container emptied beforehand, or a note of anything left inside.
Lifted and loaded by our own team
Our HIAB lorry sets down its stabiliser legs on firm ground, the container or cabin is attached to the lifting chains and it is raised onto the lorry bed. Once it is secured, we drive it away.
Because we use our own vehicles, the school deals with one company from the first photo to the moment the space is clear.
What it costs the school
Every container and cabin is different. Once we have seen photos and know where it is, we will tell you which of these applies.
You pay for disposal
For units in poor condition, where the cost of lifting, transporting and disposing of them is more than they are worth. We quote a price before anything is booked.
Free removal
Where a container or cabin still has enough value to cover the cost of collecting it, we can take it away free of charge.
We buy it
Where the unit is in good enough condition, we may make you an offer and pay you for it, as well as collecting it.
Which one applies depends on condition, with size and location also playing a part. Send us photos and we will tell you.
School container removal questions
Can you remove a storage container from a school?
Yes. We remove storage containers and portable cabins from school, college and academy grounds across England, Scotland and Wales, using our own HIAB lorries.
Can the removal be done in the school holidays?
Holidays and other times when pupils are not moving around the site are often the easiest times for a lift. Tell us your preferred dates when you ask for a quote and we will plan around them.
Who should we speak to about access on the day?
We need a named contact at the school, usually the site manager or business manager, who knows the gates, the route to the container and any areas that must be kept clear.
Do you remove containers from colleges and academies too?
Yes. College container removal is planned the same way as for a school: we agree the date, the route for the lorry and a named contact, then lift the containers or cabins onto our own HIAB lorries.
Will you take old PE or grounds equipment containers?
Yes. Containers used for PE kit, grounds equipment or general storage are all collected the same way. Please empty them first, or tell us what will be left inside.
Does it cost the school anything?
It depends on the condition, size and location of the container. The school may pay for disposal, removal may be free or we may buy the container. We tell you which before anything is booked.
Clearing space on your school site?
Send us a few photos, the postcode and a rough idea of access. We will tell you whether you pay for disposal, whether removal is free or whether we can buy it.
